Russell Harvard Plays a Deaf Duke of Cornwall in ‘King Lear’

Shakespeare text is translated into sign language.

Russell Harvard made his Broadway debut in 2015 with Deaf West Theatre’s staging of Spring Awakening.

He’s also known for the film There Will Be Blood and the series “Fargo.” Now he is back on the Main Stem in King Lear through July 7, American Theatre reports.

In an interview he explains his connection to the villainous character he portrays, along with the challenge of translating Shakespeare into American Sign Language.
