One in Four Drivers Could Fail Eyesight Test in UK


Drivers who fail will have their licenses revoked on the spot.

One in four motorists said they were not very confident or not confident at all that they would be able to read a license plate from a distance of 20 meters (65 feet), Fleet News reports.

Three police forces in the UK – Thames Valley, Hampshire and the West Midlands – will require all drivers stopped to read a license plate from 20 meters, and motorists who fail the test will have their licences revoked on the spot.

Simon Staton, director of client management at Venson Automotive Solutions, said: “The fact that only 39 percent of respondents were very confident they would be able to read a number plate from 20 meters away is very worrying.”
