This year’s theme is ‘Hope in Sight.’
At least 1 billion people worldwide have a vision impairment that could have been prevented or has yet to be treated. Each year, Operation Eyesight, based in Calgary, Canada, celebrates World Sight Day to bring awareness of the importance of making eye health a priority.
Avoidable blindness is a global issue, and it has been exacerbated by the strain COVID-19 has put on health systems. In addition, many people who need care for their eyes have skipped appointments due to fears surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.
Many more lack health insurance or can’t afford the copays or deductibles required to get the eye care they need.
If you would like to take the opportunity to help those in your communities who face blindness or the threat of blindness because they can’t afford eye surgery, a donation to LSH is a great way to make an impact.
You can do that here.
