If You Wear Contacts, Switch to Glasses to Avoid Coronavirus

Eye care advice during the pandemic.
The American Academy of Ophthalmology is warning that coronavirus can spread through the eyes, and is advising contact lens users to switch back to glasses. In an article published on its website this month, the academy notes that contact wearers touch their eyes and faces more often than others.

“Consider wearing glasses more often, especially if you tend to touch your eyes a lot when your contacts are in. Substituting glasses for lenses can decrease irritation and force you to pause before touching your eye,” advises ophthalmologist Sonal Tuli, MD, a spokesperson for the academy.
