For These Riders, Deaf Is Not a Definition

With appropriate accommodations, and the fact that riding is a solo sport by nature, deaf riders can thrive in the equestrian world, The Plaid Horse reports.

Equestrian sport doesn’t exclude riders with hearing impairment. They are permitted to use an electronic communication device, but trainers are not allowed to coach the competitor while they are in the show arena.

Several deaf young riders are currently competing at high levels.
