The next time you blink, it’ll be Thanksgiving.
It’s coming. The next time you blink, it’ll be Thanksgiving. And after that, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, and the holiday season will be upon us.
A few years back, though, we became part of a new tradition that (for me, at least) takes some of the madness out of the season: Giving Tuesday.
Celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (December 1 this year), it’s a day to take a break from the relentless shopping and decorating and planning to share some of our good fortune with others.
Across the country, those of us who are lucky enough to have a little extra to give are encouraged to donate to their favorite charities — and this year, more than ever, they need your help.
Many charities are suffering because their donors have been hit hard by the pandemic, and for many others, the need has only increased.
For us, we’re reminded every day by the calls that come into our office that a global health crisis doesn’t erase the needs of people in our communities who are struggling with the loss of their vision or hearing.
So if you’re among the lucky ones, I’m hoping you’ll take the opportunity that Giving Tuesday offers us: be generous.
And if you choose to include LSH in your giving, we’ll be truly thankful.
You can do that here.
