At the same time, there’s another encouragement to be generous: the CARES Act, which was signed into law in March, allows for an above-the-line deduction for up to $300 in charitable giving for taxpayers who aren’t itemizing their deductions.
For many people the Covid-19 crisis has resulted in terrible hardship, and we know that makes it more challenging to be generous with your charitable giving. But it also means that more people are in need, especially those who have lost their jobs, and along with that, their health insurance.
If you’re experiencing hard times, our hearts go out to you.
If you’re doing OK, please consider giving for those who can’t. You can do that here.
